Nordbruk
Nordbruk is a farmer and peasant organisation in Sweden that works for food sovereignty, sustainable management of natural resources, and human rights. They are a part of La Via Campesina, a movement of peasant farmers around the world, working to achieve food sovereignty through international solidarity and local struggles.
Contrary to popular belief, Sweden's natural conditions actually provide opportunities for self-sufficiency in food, with abundant access to energy and water and conditions conducive to our most important export product, forestry. However neoliberal policies that encourage price-dumping free trade, speculation in natural resources, and patents on seeds have deeply harmed food producers and communities in Sweden.
Nordbruk fights against these policies and is working to create alternative structures for a sustainable food supply. There work is based in community organizing but takes the form of study circles, podcasts, articles in the media, lobbying politicians, solidarity and cooperation within La Via Campesina, and much more.
Some of the things the money will go towards include:
-
Online seminars on food sovereignty with guest lecturers
-
Printing of brochures on food sovereignty and agroecology
-
In-person events e.g. movie-screening, lecture and workshop
Your donations help Nordbruk fight to achieve sustainable management Sweden's natural resources, revitalize the tradition of sustainable farming, and work to rebuild and sustain rural areas in Sweden and around the world!
